The John Jay Soccer Speed & Agility Running Clinic is aimed at enhancing players' running technique, preventing injuries, and amplifying their speed and agility under the guidance of John Jay Track & Field Coach, and former soccer player, Coach Brent DeVittorio, along with the John Jay Soccer Coaching Staff. This clinic is designed to empower our soccer athletes with the skills and biomechanical efficiency required to run with precision, reduce injury risks, and ultimately elevate their on-field performance.
Central to our approach is the goal of mitigating injury risks through the cultivation of proper running mechanics. The John Jay Soccer Program has been plagued by hamstring, calf, and quadricep injuries that can all be prevented through improved and proper running technique. The integration of Coach DeVittorio's initial sessions will enable our athletes to develop efficient and biomechanically sound running styles, reducing undue stress on muscles and joints. Through targeted drills and corrective exercises, players will not only enhance their speed but also learn to move with precision, stability, and reduced vulnerability to the aforementioned common soccer-related injuries.
Additionally, our collaboration with Coach DeVittorio provides an invaluable opportunity for players to harness the expertise of a specialist dedicated to maximizing speed and agility. By incorporating track-specific training methods, such as sprinting drills, acceleration techniques, change-of-direction exercises, and plyometrics, our program aims to amplify athletes' speed, agility, and quickness on the soccer field. This fusion of soccer-specific agility drills with track-centric speed-enhancement techniques creates a comprehensive training regimen aimed at refining athletes' multidirectional movements, explosiveness, and overall athleticism. Our goal is to equip soccer players with the tools necessary to navigate the field swiftly, outpace opponents, and execute precise movements with agility and efficiency.
